Pelmorex Media Inc., parent company of The Weather Network & MétéoMédia is proud of the accomplishments and awards received through the hard work and efforts of all our employees over the years:

2008 Bronze medal from the New York Festivals International TV Broadcasting Awards. This award recognizes “The World’s Best Work” in news, documentary, information and entertainment programming. Other finalists in the same category included CBC, CNN, ESPN, as well as networks from Hong Kong and India. Our award winning story was a profile of an Asian woman who is visually-impaired learning how to sail and how she uses her other senses to determine wind direction and any changes in the weather. The bronze medal was officially presented at a gala in New York City, in February 2008.
2007 The Weather Network receives the first annual Adrienne Clarkson Award for Diversity, presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association. This award is given to the story, feature or series that best exemplifies or explores an issue of diversity in a news program.
2006, 2007 and 2008 Pelmorex Media Inc., parent company of The Weather Network and sister station, MétéoMédia named one of the Top 50 Best Managed Companies to work for in Canada. Established in 1993, Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies is one of the country’s leading business award programs, recognizing excellence in Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $10 million. Among the criteria to qualify, companies must have achieved superior results for the past three years. The panel of five judges for the 50 Best Managed Companies are accomplished individuals from Deloitte, CIBC Commercial Banking, Queen’s School of Business and the National Post. Pelmorex Media Inc., won the award again for 2008.
2006 The Weather Network receives Radio-Television News Directors Association Award. Our 2006 Black History news series from our Maritime Bureau on how weather affected Black Loyalists in Nova Scotia and their historic burial site was the winning entry. The award was presented by the former Governor General Adrienne Clarkson, at the RTNDA Conference in June.
2006 The Weather Network is honoured for Weather Mosaic series. Nominated, and honoured as a finalist, for a Canadian Association of Broadcasters Gold Ribbon Award for Diversity in Programming for our Weather Mosaic series. The ‘Weather Mosaic’ diversity series was introduced in 2006. These segments have contributed to diversifying our news sources.
2005 Employment Equity Success Story. In the Employment Equity Annual Report from Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC), Pelmorex was featured as ‘An Employment Equity Success Story’. Pelmorex was profiled in a chapter in the annual report ... as an employer who has demonstrated an exemplary commitment to the principles and goals of employment equity.’
2004 Pelmorex receives the highest ratings for Employment Equity. Pelmorex receives 4 A’s from Human Resources and Social Development Canada for each of the designated groups: women, Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities. The rating of ‘A’ indicates superior performance in human resource practices and is reflective of a representative workforce as compared to the external labour force.
2003 Pelmorex receives the Vision Award for Excellence in Employment Equity from the Ministry of Labour. Pelmorex was the recipient of the 2003 Vision Award for excellence in Employment Equity by the Ministry of Labour. This is the highest award for employment equity and recognizes those organizations for the special efforts and outstanding achievements in moving.
2003 Gold Ribbon Award for Outstanding Community Service by an Individual Broadcaster. This award presented by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) recognizes excellence by an individual broadcaster in the area of community service towards a representative workforce.
2003 Pelmorex named one of the Top 100 Employers in Canada. Pelmorex named one of the Top 100 Employers in Canada for 2003. Pelmorex is recognized for being a leader in the Broadcasting Industry for employment equity. Macleans magazine did a cover story on the Top 100 Employers and provided this reference to Pelmorex: "The federal government ranks the operator of TV's weather channels tops in its industry for employment equity".
2002 Pelmorex honoured by Human Resources Development Canada. Pelmorex achieved an 'A' for each of the four designated groups. We received a letter from Human Resources Development Canada advising us that we have "the distinction of being the only federally-regulated private sector employer under the Employment Equity Act to have achieved this rating for the 2002 reporting year".
